Signing Up with MyHost — What We Found
MyHost is a budget-friendly brand offering shared hosting, run by a kiwi company with servers based here in New Zealand.
For this test we’ve signed up for MyHost’s Small shared hosting plan to see what you actually get at their entry tier. As always, we’ve taken notes of the the signup flow, and ran our standard WordPress benchmarks so you know exactly what to expect.
The MyHost signup story
Overall, the signup process and website setup went smoothly.
We chose the Small shared plan ($8.95/month NZD ex-GST at renewal), completed checkout and landed in cPanel, which should be familiar territory if you've hosted WordPress sites in New Zealand before.
MyHost’s servers default to Auckland. We verified the origin IP as 103.250.232.93.
The WordPress installation went without a hitch. SSL and email were already part of the plan, so we didn’t need to tick extra boxes or install certificates manually.
Once WordPress was live, we ran PHP Vitals (A−) and WP Benchmark (8.2 / 10) on the reference site.

Among the hosts in our comparison table, MyHost posted the strongest combined scores for a New Zealand–hosted plan. The A− PHP Vitals grade and 8.2 WP Benchmark score suggest the Auckland environment has headroom for typical WordPress workloads.
These results indicate solid performance for most WordPress sites, with local Auckland latency for NZ visitors — a clear advantage over overseas shared hosts.
