Voyager NZ hosting review: what we found signing up
Voyager is a New Zealand owned and operated hosting provider. While not best known for their cheap hosting options, they do offer some budget hosting services.
We signed up for Voyager's Linux Lite plan ($14.95/month NZD ex-GST), installed WordPress, and ran our standard WordPress benchmarks. Here's what we found.
The Voyager signup story
The checkout flow itself was straightforward. We picked the Lite plan, chose a domain, and reviewed the $17.19/mo total (incl. GST). Payment options included credit card (with a $1.00 authorisation hold) or Voyager account balance, and a credit check consent was required.
Once we got our account made and plan purchased, we landed in the Plesk control panel. If you’re used to using cPanel, Plesk’s interface will take some learning.
Using Plesk we got WordPress 7.1 installed in one click, running PHP 8.3.22 with nginx caching enabled out of the box. However, SSL was not automatically configured. The hosting information showed "No SSL Detected", and accessing the WordPress admin via HTTPS triggered a NET::ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID error. We needed to manually configure a certificate through Plesk.
Server location is New Zealand. We verified the origin IP as 210.5.50.2 on the ISX network, which is a genuine NZ data centre.
Once WordPress was live, we ran PHP Vitals (A− in 8.31s) and WP Benchmark (6 / 10).

Benchmark results ?
| Test | Result | Date |
|---|---|---|
| PHP Vitals | A- (8.31s) | 2026-09-03 |
| WP Benchmark | 6 / 10 | 2026-09-03 |
Voyager’s benchmarking results were mixed. PHP Vitals A− shows solid server-side PHP performance. On the other hand, the WP Benchmark score of 6 / 10 is mid-table — strong on CPU and filesystem, weaker on database, image processing, and object cache (no persistent cache enabled).
Local NZ servers keep latency low for visitors here; raw WordPress micro-benchmarks trail the top of the table.
